All Roads Lead To Simpson

DRIVERS from every part of Victoria will make their way to Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway this Saturday for a big night of racing presented by Colac Wreckers.

Around 20 different speedway clubs from around Victoria will be represented with Portland, Laang, Warrnambool, Alexandra, Nyora, Nagambie, Ballarat, Corowa, Mt Beauty, Drouin, Wangaratta, Goulburn Valley, Avalon, Bendigo, Darlington, Redline, Mildura, Hamilton, Simpson and Swan Hill with drivers racing.

The fourth round of the Dirt X Industries VSC Sports Sedan Power Series has attracted a stout list of 37 and is a mix of both 6 and 8 cylinder cars in the field, somewhat a Ford vs Holden type racing that is sure to excite fans.

This will be the biggest field of VSC Sports Sedans outside a Victorian title and many of the cars compete with LS V8 Chevrolet engines or 6 Cylinder Ford Barra engines.

First across the line in their final this weekend will win $2000 and those to watch look to be Rob Garlick, Dale Smith, Dale Hallett, Zac Swanson, Brendan Miller, Chris Rieck, Lucas Conder, Simon Bent while Jamie Paull in the N42 is a former state champion.

The Compact Speedcars will have a dozen competitors vying for their annual Legends Trophy and multiple reigning Victorian champion Justin Paull should figure prominently as he chases back-to-back wins in this event.

Compact Speedcars are a mix of car and bike engines however, most are running R1 Yamaha and GSXR Suzuki 1000s and Kawasaki and Honda powered vehicles are also popular.

The future of speedway will again be showcased with the running of the third round of the Junior Sedans Promotion Association of Victoria series.

The Top Stars division has attracted a field of 23 with current Tasmanian champion Lochie Robbins one of the big chances and in the New Stars all eyes will be on Simpson’s own Jayden Lock carrying his famous uncle Phil’s number 4 in the field of 13.

Gates open at 4pm and racing from 6pm.
